Leeds United, Matej Vydra talks 'break down over wages'

Matej Vydra's move from Derby County to Leeds United no longer looks like going through as the Czech striker's wage demands are reportedly too high.

Leeds United are reportedly close to walking away from talks with Matej Vydra as the Derby County striker's wage demands are proving too much.

The Whites, now under the management of highly-regarded Argentine coach Marcelo Bielsa, had hoped to bring in the 26-year-old to spearhead their promotion charge.

Initial discussions are believed to have begun as early as May, but the Yorkshire Evening Post suggests that Leeds have now cooled their interest after baulking at his fresh demands.

United are willing to pay in excess of £30,000 a week for the Czech Republic international, who ended last season as the Championship's top scorer, and were prepared to meet Derby's £11m valuation.

Vydra is not part of County's warm-weather training camp in Tenerife, which the club put down to an injury problem.
