A report claims that Chelsea remain firmly in the running to sign Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero ahead of next season.

Chelsea are reportedly in a strong position to sign Sergio Aguero when he leaves Manchester City at the end of the campaign.

The Argentina international has been linked with a number of clubs since it was announced last month that he is to leave City in the summer.

Barcelona are believed to be the favourites to sign the 32-year-old on a free transfer, but Mundo Deportivo suggests that the Catalans face firm competition from Chelsea.

It is claimed that the Blues have already reached out to Aguero, and the former Atletico Madrid star has indicated that he is prepared to stay in the Premier League.

Aguero's final decision is expected to come down to how much playing time he can be guaranteed next season, having struggled to hold down a place in Pep Guardiola's favoured lineup since returning from injury.

Chelsea are also thought to be weighing up a move for Borussia Dortmund's Erling Braut Haaland. body check tags ::
