Graham Potter: 'Return to Premier League won't be easy for Swansea City'

Swansea City boss Graham Potter says that a return to the Premier League straight away will be difficult for Swansea City.

Newly-appointed Swansea City manager Graham Potter has insisted that a return to the Premier League after being relegated last season will not be easy for his club.

The Welsh side finished 18th in the league last season with 33 points, sealing their place in the Championship for the 2018-19 season.

The Swans' relegation has seen the departure of five players so far this summer, including goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski to West Ham United.

"It's not so straightforward. We've got to go through a transition, a restructure," Potter told talkSPORT.

"For us, it's not about worrying what's going to happen in May. It's about trying to focus on the next match which is Sheffield United away. That's a difficult game and we'll just concentrate on that.

"We know the Championship is very competitive, it's a hugely challenging competition but that was the appeal of the job. The club had an identity, they lost it over a number of years, so the challenge now is to re-build that."

The 43-year-old has made five additions to his squad this summer, including 21-year-old playmaker Bersant Celina from Manchester City and 19-year-old forward Joel Asoro from Sunderland.
