Leicester City, Bournemouth 'told to pay £15m for Chris Mepham'

Leicester City and Bournemouth will reportedly have to pay at least £15m if they are to sign Wales international defender Chris Mepham from Brentford.

Brentford are reportedly playing hardball by refusing to sell defender Chris Mepham to Leicester City or Bournemouth for anything less than £15m.

The Bees are believed to have knocked back bids in the region of £10m from the Premier League teams since the transfer window opened.

Both sides are expected to return with fresh offers before Thursday evening's deadline, but the London Evening Standard claims that Brentford will not listen to any bids below the £15m mark, and it may even take as much as £20m to persuade them to sell.

Mepham, handed his senior Wales debut by Ryan Giggs at the tail end of last season, has four years to run on his existing contract at Griffin Park.

Bournemouth are keen to add a central defender to their ranks for the new season, while Leicester are bracing themselves for an official approach from Manchester United for Harry Maguire.
