Nathaniel Clyne flies home from Liverpool pre-season tour

Liverpool full-back Nathaniel Clyne is granted permission to leave the club's pre-season tour of the United States early due to "family reasons".

Liverpool full-back Nathaniel Clyne has been granted permission to fly home from the club's pre-season tour of the United States due to "family reasons".

Clyne has featured in both of Liverpool's International Champions Cup matches so far this summer, playing just over an hour in both their defeat to Dortmund and late victory over Manchester City.

However, the 27-year-old will now miss the conclusion of the tour, including Saturday's match against Manchester United in Michigan.

"Nathaniel Clyne has been granted permission by Jurgen Klopp to return home from Liverpool's United States tour early for family reasons," read a statement on the club's official website.

"The full-back will depart back to England from New Jersey today, meaning he will miss the Reds' trip to Michigan and the fixture with Manchester United on Saturday.

"Clyne will return to the squad for Liverpool's training camp in France next week."

Clyne missed the vast majority of last season through injury, making only three Premier League appearances throughout the campaign.
