Steve Bruce 'has no intention of walking away from Aston Villa'

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce is reportedly planning for his side's return to pre-season training, amid claims that he has yet to be assured that he will be kept on.

Steve Bruce has reportedly informed his colleagues that he has no intention of stepping down as Aston Villa manager, despite the Championship outfit's cash crisis.

The 57-year-old has yet to be assured by owner Tony Xia whether he will stay on at Villa Park following the agony of missing out on promotion in 2017-18.

According to The Mirror, though, Bruce has made it clear that he is happy to see through the job that he signed up for, regardless of the financial uncertainty at Villa Park.

Villa reached an agreement with HMRC on Thursday to push back an unpaid £4.2m settlement until next week, but other large liabilities must still be met.

The club's wage bill must also be slashed, with prized asset Jack Grealish almost certain to be sold on to the highest Premier League bidder.

Bruce is already planning for pre-season, it is claimed, as he intends on being in charge come July 4 when the players return to training.
