The Weakest Link will return to BBC One over the Christmas period with Romesh Ranganathan as the new host.

The BBC has confirmed that The Weakest Link will return to BBC One over the Christmas period.

Earlier this year the corporation announced that the classic quiz show format would be returning with Romesh Ranganathan in the Anne Robinson role and with celebrities as contestants.

The first of those episodes will now air over Christmas for a special themed edition, with eight contestants - including panto legend Christopher Biggins, reality star Gemma Collins and singer Bonnie Langford - taking part.

Also in the BBC One this schedules is a Christmas episode of Michael McIntyre's The Wheel, with Danny Dyer, Zoe Ball and David Walliams the contestants and the likes of Martine McCutcheon, Gregg Wallace and Julian Clary among those on the wheel.

Bradley Walsh will also return with Blankety Blank's festive special with panellists including Mel B, Danny Jones, Angela Rippon and Richard E Grant.
