Strictly Come Dancing producers may scrap live audiences and reintroduce quarantine bubbles for contestants after Tom Fletcher and Amy Dowden tested positive for coronavirus.

Strictly Come Dancing producers are reportedly considering dropping live studio audiences following the first positive coronavirus cases of the series.

McFly's Tom Fletcher and his pro partner Amy Dowden have been forced to self-isolate after returning positive tests less than 24 hours after they took part in the first live show on Saturday night.

The show is now facing the potential of a mini-outbreak among cast and crew if Fletcher and Dowden passed on COVID - with the disease taking around four to five days to show up in tests.

Last year's Strictly took place without a studio audience for the most part and according to The Sun, that measure - along with strict quarantine bubbles for contestants - could now be reintroduced in the near future.

"These would be radical steps to take to increase safety on the set, but given the difficulties producers have had over the past two weeks, there's nothing they aren't willing to consider," a source told the newspaper.

"But if they did have to go down this route, it would be a logistical nightmare and might leave some of the stars with a dilemma as many of them are juggling their dance training with their day jobs."

Strictly continues Saturday night on BBC One, with the first celebrity elimination following on Sunday night.
