The BBC and Sky acquire the rights to cult Will Smith comedy The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

The BBC and Sky have both acquired the rights to classic sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, it has been announced.

All six seasons of the Will Smith comedy will be made available to stream through the BBC iPlayer, Sky's on-demand service and NOW TV from January 1, 2021.

Additionally, the BBC has acquired all seven seasons of teen drama Pretty Little Liars and the spinoff Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists for iPlayer.

"The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and its all-star cast will amuse and entertain a new generation through BBC iPlayer and there is an opportunity to re-indulge for those who enjoyed the series on BBC screens the first time around," said iPlayer controller Dan McGolpin.

"Together with new series Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists and all previous series of Pretty Little Liars, we will have more choice than ever before to kick off 2021. Whatever your age and whatever your mood, there is a series waiting for you on BBC iPlayer."

Fresh Prince first aired 30 years ago and ran for 148 episodes over six seasons.
