Manchester United legend Paul Scholes 'interviewed for Oldham Athletic job'

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes is reportedly interviewed by Oldham Athletic for the manager's vacancy.

Oldham Athletic have reportedly spoken to Manchester United legend Paul Scholes about the manager's job at Boundary Park.

The League One club have been searching for a new coach since September 25 when John Sheridan was sacked following a fifth spell in charge.

Scholes, who grew up supporting Oldham, spoke to officials of the club this morning at an undisclosed location, according to the Daily Mail.

Richie Wellens, who is currently the caretaker manager and is also a former United player, is believed to be another strong candidate for the position.

After retiring from professional football in May 2013, Scholes has had TV punditry spells, as well as brief coaching stints in United's academy.

The 42-year-old is currently part-owner of Salford City.
