Pep Guardiola 'fears losing Kevin De Bruyne to Barcelona'

A report claims that Pep Guardiola is concerned about Kevin De Bruyne's long-term future at Manchester City, as Barcelona may be tempted to make an approach next year.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly worried that Kevin De Bruyne's impressive start to the campaign could tempt Barcelona into making a move.

The 26-year-old is currently in the form of his life, playing a direct part in eight goals in his last nine fixtures during the Citizens' near-perfect streak to begin the 2017-18 season.

Guardiola recently suggested that De Bruyne is one of the best players he has ever managed, while Stoke City boss Mark Hughes described him as the most impressive performer in the Premier League right now.

According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, though, Guardiola fears losing the Belgium international to former club Barcelona, who have supposedly been monitoring the playmaker in recent weeks.

Barca are still on the lookout for a new attacking player, having had three separate bids knocked back for Liverpool ace Philippe Coutinho during the summer window, and it is claimed that De Bruyne is now high on their wishlist.
