Everton, Newcastle United chasing Dutch striker Bas Dost?

Sporting Lisbon striker Bas Dost is reportedly wanted by Premier League pair Everton and Newcastle United after growing unsettled in Portugal.

Premier League rivals Everton and Newcastle United both have their sights set on Sporting Lisbon striker Bas Dost, according to a report.

The Netherlands international has been one of the most prolific frontmen anywhere on the continent in recent years, scoring a combined 61 times in the last two Primeira Liga campaigns.

Dost has grown unhappy at Sporting, however, after fans raided the club's training ground last month and assaulted players.

Spanish outlet Marca claims that Everton and Newcastle are two of the teams preparing to pounce, while Sevilla are also readying a bid of their own.

Newcastle missed out on Dost's signature two years ago when he opted to join the Lions from Wolfsburg in a £10.7m deal, and he has since gone on to score 70 goals in 90 games.

Everton are also keen to bring in some additional firepower, while fellow Sporting ace William Carvalho is another player rumoured to be on new boss Marco Silva's radar.
