Antonio Rudiger: 'Callum Hudson-Odoi has asked me about Germany'

By , Football League Correspondent | 5d
Antonio Rudiger hopes that Callum Hudson-Odoi remains a Chelsea player once the January transfer window closes, amid strong interest from German giants Bayern Munich.

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has revealed that teammate Callum Hudson-Odoi has asked for advice about a switch to German football.

The teenage forward is a confirmed transfer target for Bayern Munich, who are believed to have had four bids - ranging from £15m to £35m - knocked back this month.

Bayern are willing to offer the youngster regular first-team football in one of the continent's biggest leagues - something which Chelsea have been reluctant to do, fielding the 18-year-old for a combined 69 minutes in the Premier League.

Hudson-Odoi appears to be open to the idea of joining the Bundesliga champions, though Rudiger hopes that the England age-grade international remains at Stamford Bridge.

"He asked me about Germany. It was a general question from him," the German centre-back told reporters. "He is still young, I can advise him, but at the end of the day he decides about his future

"You can see it from both sides. He can develop here but he can develop in Germany as well — and don't forget Bayern Munich are also a big club.

"For his future, I wish him all the best but I just wish he stays with us."

Hudson-Odoi started Chelsea's EFL Cup semi-final first leg against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday evening, which ended in a 1-0 defeat for his side.
