Sports Mole previews Tuesday's Championship clash between Blackburn Rovers and Millwall, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Millwall will be bidding to make it six Championship victories in a row when they continue their domestic campaign away to promotion-chasing Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday night.

Fourth-placed Blackburn will enter the contest off the back of a 2-0 defeat at Fulham on Saturday, while Millwall recorded a 1-0 victory at Reading to move into 10th position in the table.

Match preview

Blackburn's form in 2022 has been patchy, winning just three times in the Championship since the turn of the year, while they have been victorious in just one of their last seven in England's second tier.

Tony Mowbray's side suffered a 2-0 defeat at league leaders Fulham on Saturday, but they are still in a strong position, picking up 57 points from their 35 matches, which has left them in fourth spot in the table, just five points behind second-placed Huddersfield Town with a game in hand.

Blackburn's form at a vital stage of the season will be concerning to their supporters, though, particularly as they are just three points ahead of seventh-placed Sheffield United and could easily drop out of the playoff spots in the coming weeks if their disappointing form continues.

Rovers have been excellent on home soil this season, though, picking up 36 points from their 17 matches, with only Middlesbrough (38) and Fulham (40) performing stronger in front of their own fans.

Blackburn have also only lost once to Millwall in the league since November 2012, while they recorded a 2-1 victory when the two teams locked horns in the corresponding match last season.

Millwall, though, will enter Tuesday's contest full of confidence, having been victorious in each of their last five Championship matches, including a 1-0 victory at Reading on Saturday afternoon.

A 37th-minute effort from Jake Cooper proved to be enough for the Lions to triumph in Berkshire, and the result moved them into 10th position in the table, boasting 52 points from their 34 matches.

Millwall are actually only three points behind sixth-placed Middlesbrough, with the race for the playoff positions absolutely fascinating, and another victory in this match would further boost confidence in the camp.

Gary Rowett's side have won five, drawn five and lost seven of their 17 away league games this season to collect 20 points, but the capital outfit have not been victorious at Ewood Park in the league since November 2012.

Millwall's defensive record has also been impressive during their strong run of results, conceding just twice in their last five games, with their last two matches against Sheffield United and Reading both finishing 1-0.

Team News

Blackburn will again be missing Ben Brereton Diaz, Dilan Markanday, Ian Poveda and Bradley Dack for Tuesday's contest through injury.

Ryan Nyambe remains a doubt, having been absent against Fulham on Saturday, so Ryan Giles could keep his spot in the starting side.

Deyovaisio Zeefuik had to be replaced just 17 minutes into the clash at Craven Cottage, though, and the 23-year-old is now expected to miss out, so Joe Rankin-Costello could start, while Sam Gallagher might also be recalled.

As for Millwall, Daniel Ballard and Benik Afobe came into the starting side against Reading due to the absences of Shaun Hutchinson and Mason Bennett through injury, and the pair should retain their spots.

Maikel Kieftenbeld, Sheyi Ojo, Tom Bradshaw and Ryan Leonard will also be unavailable for selection due to fitness problems.

Having suffered no fresh injury or suspension concerns against Reading on Saturday, it would not be a surprise to see the same starting XI take to the field against Blackburn here.

Blackburn Rovers possible starting lineup:
Kaminski; Lenihan, Van Hecke, Wharton; Rankin-Costello, Travis, Johnson, Pickering; Giles, Dolan, Gallagher

Millwall possible starting lineup:
Bialkowski; Ballard, Cooper, Wallace; McNamara, Mitchell, Saville, Malone; Burey, Wallace, Afobe

We say: Blackburn Rovers 2-2 Millwall

Millwall have the winning feeling at the moment, but the same cannot be said for Blackburn, who have been disappointing since the turn of the year. Rovers have only lost three of their 17 home league games this term, though, and we can see an entertaining match producing a 2-2 draw here.
