Barcelona reveal that Rafinha is heading for another knee operation having suffered a torn left ACL.

Barcelona have revealed that Rafinha is heading for another knee operation having suffered a torn left ACL.

Rafinha replaced Sergi Roberto at the interval of Barcelona's La Liga clash with Atletico Madrid on Saturday night and finished the 1-1 draw at the Wanda Metropolitano.

There did not appear to be any sign of a problem when Rafinha left the field at the end of the match, but Barcelona have revealed that the Brazil international needs surgery on damaged knee ligaments.

The 25-year-old suffered a similar injury to his right knee during the 2015-16 campaign, and was also sidelined between April 2017 and December 2017 with a meniscal problem.

Rafinha "will undergo surgery in the coming days", according to an update on Barcelona's official Twitter page.

Rafinha has scored once in eight appearances for Barcelona this season.
