Report: West Ham United hoping to sign Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere

Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere is believed to be a transfer target for West Ham United, with Manuel Pellegrini thought to be a big fan of the 26-year-old.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for West Ham United.

The 26-year-old's contract at the Emirates Stadium runs out at the end of this month and no extension has yet been agreed.

New Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini, unveiled as David Moyes's successor at the London Stadium two weeks ago, is watching developments closely, according to the Daily Star.

The report adds that the Chilean is a long-term admirer of Wilshere and looked to sign the England international during his time as Manchester City boss.

Wilshere has endured several injury-plagued years, however, culminating in Gareth Southgate omitting the player from England's 23-man squad for the World Cup.

West Ham will reportedly face competition from Fulham, Crystal Palace, Everton and Newcastle United for Wilshere's signature.
