How Spain could line up against Morocco

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Spain could line up for Tuesday's World Cup 2022 last-16 clash with Morocco.

Spain manager Luis Enrique has said that he has everyone available for Tuesday's World Cup 2022 last-16 tie with Morocco at the Education City Stadium.

La Roja settled for a second-placed finish in Group E after a 2-1 loss to Japan, where Enrique made a number of changes to his first XI with the knockout stages in mind.

Brentford goalkeeper David Raya missed training on Friday for unexplained reasons, but Unai Simon was always expected to get the nod in goal, even if he was left disappointed with his failure to keep out Ritsu Doan's effort on Thursday.

Aymeric Laporte was rested against Japan but will expect to come straight back into the defence - potentially alongside Manchester City teammate Rodri as Pau Torres drops out.

Two changes will likely be made in the full-back areas, where Cesar Azpilicueta suffered a calf injury against Japan and should now be replaced by Dani Carvajal - despite being given the green light to play - while Jordi Alba is in line to displace Barcelona teammate Alejandro Balde.

An unchanged Blaugrana midfield trident should see Gavi and Pedri continue alongside the experienced Sergio Busquets, while Ferran Torres ought to come back in for Nico Williams out wide.

Dani Olmo was also absent from training last week but should still make his fourth World Cup start of the 2022 tournament alongside Alvaro Morata, who could become only the second Spanish men's player to score in four successive World Cup matches after David Villa in 2010.

Spain possible starting lineup: Simon; Carvajal, Rodri, Laporte, Alba; Pedri, Busquets, Gavi; Torres, Morata, Olmo
