Sports Mole rounds up all of Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Wednesday's EFL Cup semi-final against Manchester United.

Manchester City switch their attention back to the EFL Cup on Wednesday night when they face local rivals Manchester United in the semi-finals at Old Trafford.

Pep Guardiola's side have lifted the trophy in each of the last three seasons and are bidding to become only the second team in history to win the competition four years on the bounce.

Man City shrugged off a coronavirus crisis to ease past Chelsea on Sunday, but face a Man United side in fine form domestically.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Man City's injury and suspension news ahead of the contest.

Gabriel Jesus

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: January 6 (vs. Manchester United)

Gabriel Jesus will need to test negative for coronavirus before being considered for this match but, with his positive test being revealed on Christmas Day, in theory he could be in contention with his 10 days of isolation having now elapsed.

Kyle Walker

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: January 6 (vs. Manchester United)

Like Jesus, Man City confirmed Kyle Walker's positive coronavirus test on Christmas Day and the right-back could be in contention if he returns a negative test.

Ederson

Status: Out
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: Unknown

Ederson also missed out against Chelsea due to a period of self-isolation and he is expected to sit out on Wednesday night too.

Ferran Torres

Status: Out
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: Unknown

Ferran Torres was one of six players forced to sit out at the weekend due to the COVID-19 outbreak and he will also be missing in midweek as he undergoes a period of self-isolation.

Tommy Doyle

Status: Out
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: Unknown

Tommy Doyle was another player struck down by the coronavirus outbreak within Man City and he too is expected to miss this match as a result.

Eric Garcia

Status: Out
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: Unknown

Eric Garcia was due to miss the Chelsea game through injury anyway, but prior to the match he was also confirmed as the latest Man City player to be struck down by COVID-19.

Aymeric Laporte

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: January 6 (vs. Manchester United)

On top of their coronavirus issues, Man City have also been forced to contend with an injury to Aymeric Laporte, who missed the Chelsea game due to a minor hamstring complaint which is also expected to rule him out of this match.

Nathan Ake

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Fitness
Possible return date: January 6 (vs. Manchester United)

Nathan Ake failed a fitness test ahead of the Chelsea match and remains a doubt for this match, although the full extent of his problem has not yet been revealed.

Scott Carson

Status: Out
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: Unknown

Man City confirmed three more cases of coronavirus on the day of the game, including two players, one of whom was third-choice goalkeeper Scott Carson.

Cole Palmer

Status: Out
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: Unknown

Eighteen-year-old midfielder Cole Palmer was the other player to be confirmed as positive for COVID-19 on the day of the game, further limiting Guardiola's options in a competition which has often seen him turn to youth.

MANCHESTER CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Man City have no players suspended for this match.
