Nottingham Forest will attempt to end a 28-year winless run when they face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Steve Cooper's side will travel to West London in a buoyant mood after they got the better of relegation rivals Southampton in Monday's seven-goal thriller.

A Taiwo Awoniyi brace and goals from Morgan Gibbs-White and Danilo guided the Reds to a precious 4-3 victory over the Saints at the City Ground.

Having picked up consecutive home victories, Forest head into the final three games of the season in 16th position with a three-point cushion to the drop zone.

Forest may be in jovial spirits following Monday's result, but Cooper will be well aware that his side still have work to do to extend their stay in the top flight into a second season.

If the Reds are to claim three points when they make the trip to Stamford Bridge on Saturday then they will need to end a 28-year winless run.

Forest have gone 26 years without a victory against Chelsea, but their wait for an away win goes back even further to January 1995.

Since beating the Blues 2-1 at Stamford Bridge 28 years ago, Forest have gone eight games (D1, L7) without winning an away game against the West London club.

They have also struggled on their travels this season, winning just one of their 17 Premier League away matches.

Having picked up just six points on the road in the 2022-23 campaign, Forest currently hold the worst away record in the top flight.

After losing their last seven Premier League away games, Forest may be content with collecting a point from Saturday's encounter.
