Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani has reportedly cooled his interest in Manchester United due to the new demands set out by the Glazer family.

The Qatari banker, alongside Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is the favourite to purchase the 20-time English champions, with the Glazers signalling last November that they are open to a sale.

A recent report claimed that the preferred bidder for Man United could be named by Friday, with Ratcliffe believed to have moved to the head of the queue for the club.

Ratcliffe is only looking for a controlling stake at Old Trafford, around 51%, which would see the Glazers keeping a minority shareholding of around 20%.

Sheikh Jassim, on the other hand, wants to complete a full takeover, while the Qatari has also made it clear that he is prepared to commit significant funds to improving Old Trafford and the club's training ground.

According to El Pais, the Glazers have changed their asking price in the middle of the negotiations, which has seen Sheikh Jassim cool his interest.

The report claims that Sheikh Jassim had initially been told that the price was £5.2bn, but the valuation of the club has now been raised to £6bn.

The Qatari has allegedly already tabled four separate offers for the Red Devils but has been unsuccessful each time, which has led to him stepping back to assess his options.

The same publication claims that Sheikh Jassim could switch his attention to West Ham United if he is unsuccessful in purchasing the 20-time English champions.

The banker is now believed to be 'assessing other options in the Premier League', with West Ham being identified as the ideal club to purchase.

The Hammers are in the final of the Europa Conference League and would qualify for next season's Europa League if they manage to beat Fiorentina on June 7 in Prague.

David Moyes's side have found it difficult in the Premier League this season, though, only picking up 40 points from 37 matches, which has left them in 14th position in the table.

West Ham are expected to be active during the summer market, and their budget could be boosted by the sale of Declan Rice, who is currently being linked with a big-money exit.

The Hammers will end their Premier League campaign against relegation-threatened Leicester City on Sunday, while Man United will welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford on Thursday before finishing their season at home to Fulham on Sunday. body check tags ::
