Arsenal are reportedly ready to reopen contract talks with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with the club captain about to enter the final 12 months of his current deal.

The Gabonese forward has been the Gunners' star man this season and has bagged 17 Premier League goals in a tough campaign for the club.

According to The Mirror, talks were put on hold during the Autumn with Aubameyang frustrated under Unai Emery, but the club remain keen to convince him to stay.

The 30-year-old has played a crucial role under new coach Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal hierarchy want to understand his intentions so they can make a final decision.

If the former Borussia Dortmund man refuses to agree to a new deal, the North London club could either sell him this summer or lose him for free a year later.

Arteta stated on Sunday that he wants Aubameyang to stay at the club beyond this season. body check tags ::
