Years & Years to become Olly Alexander solo project
Years & Years announce that the band is to transform into an Olly Alexander solo project.

Years & Years frontman Olly Alexander is to continue with the band by himself, it has been announced.

The three-piece - Alexander, Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Turkmen - formed in 2010 but rose to chart prominence in 2015 with their worldwide hit 'King' and the album Communion.

In a statement on the Years & Years social media accounts, it was confirmed that Goldsworthy and Turkmen have decided to leave the group, but Alexander will continue on with the moniker as a solo project.

"Dear Y&Y fans. There's been some changes that we want to fill you in on," it said. "This upcoming new album has been an Olly endeavour and we've decided that Years & Years will continue as an Olly solo project. The three of us are still good friends.

"The three of us are still good friends. Mikey will be part of the Y&Y family and play with us live and Emre will focus on being a writer/producer.

"These past twelve months have been crazy for us all and we want to thank you for the love and support you've given us over the years (& years).

"New Y&Y music will be coming this spring."

Alexander was most recently seen playing the lead in Channel 4's critically-acclaimed AIDS drama It's A Sin.
