ABBA announce plans to release their first album in 40 years alongside a new unique concert experience in London.

ABBA, one of the most popular groups of all time, are to reunite for their first new album in 40 years.

The Swedish four-piece will release the record, called Voyage, this November ahead of the start of a unique live concert experience in London next year.

The group have spent months performing in motion capture studios in order to create digital versions of themselves, which will appear alongside a live 10-piece orchestra at the ABBA Voyage gigs starting next May.

The concerts will take place at a specially-built, 3,500-seater venue called the 'ABBA Arena' at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford.

ABBA said in a joint statement: "It's been a while since we made music together. Almost 40 years, actually. We took a break in the spring of 1982 and now we've decided it's time to end it.

"They say it's foolhardy to wait more than 40 years between albums, so we've recorded a follow-up to The Visitors.

"To tell the truth, the main inspiration to record again comes from our involvement in creating the strangest and most spectacular concert you could ever dream of. We're going to be able to sit back in an audience and watch our digital selves perform our songs on a stage in a custom-built arena in London next spring. Weird and wonderful!"

To coincide with the announcement, ABBA released two brand new singles from Voyage, 'I Still Have Faith In You' and 'Don't Shut Me Down'.
