Soap stars Amy Walsh and Toby-Alexander Smith announce the birth of their first child.

Emmerdale's Amy Walsh and EastEnders star Toby-Alexander Smith have welcomed their first child together.

The couple - who play Tracy and Gray in their respective soaps - have been dating for just over two years and announced in September that they were expecting.

According to OK! magazine, Walsh - sister of Girls Aloud's Kimberley Walsh - gave birth over the festive period, although the pair have yet to reveal the name or gender of their new arrival.

In a message confirming the news, they said: "Well...it's been a busy week! Hope you all had a good one. HAPPY NEW YEAR from the three of us."

Walsh is currently on maternity leave from Emmerdale, with her character Tracy expected to temporarily leave the Dales in episodes broadcast in the coming weeks.
