Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick has said that Anthony Martial has "made it very clear" that he wants to leave Old Trafford during the January transfer window.

The France international has struggled to make his mark during the 2021-22 campaign, managing just one goal in 10 appearances in all competitions, and he has told the Red Devils that he wants a mid-season exit.

Rangnick has suggested that the 26-year-old will no longer be considered for selection, although the German has insisted that Man United will not be forced to sell him for under their asking price.

"He made it very clear that he wants to leave and in a way, I can understand his wish to leave and try to play more regularly somewhere else," Rangnick told reporters.

"But again, here, it is not only about what he wants to do but also a question of which kind of clubs are interested in him and do they meet the demands of the club?

"We have to wait and see. He is not injured currently, so I decided to go with this group of players that we had in the squad today (Thursday). It had nothing to do with injuries."

Sevilla are believed to have recently failed with a loan offer for Martial, who still has two-and-a-half years left to run on his contract with the 20-time English champions.
