Barcelona's La Liga showdown with Las Palmas this weekend is reportedly at risk of being postponed as it falls on the same day as the Catalan independence referendum.

The table toppers, who are currently on an eight-match winning run in all competitions, are scheduled to kick off at 3.15pm on Sunday afternoon.

According to The Sun, however, police resources have been stretched to the full because of the referendum vote in Catalonia on the same day.

Security has been stepped up on matchdays at Camp Nou since the terror attack that rocked the city in August, when 13 people were killed and 130 more left injured.

Officials are said to be deliberating over whether to push back the game to a later date, with a late decision expected to be made over the next 24 hours.

The referendum is being held despite the best attempts by the Spanish government to block it, which has led to further protests in the region.
