Egypt winger Mohamed Salah will start on the bench for the Pharaohs in their Group A opener with Uruguay.

The Liverpool star was declared fit by coach Hector Cuper on Thursday after recovering from a shoulder injury, but has only made the bench.

Instead, Marwan Mohsen starts up front, with Huddersfield Town man Ramadan Sobhi also not in the starting lineup.

In defence, Ali Gabr partners Ahmed Hegazy, while Arsenal's Mohamed Elneny starts in midfield with Tarek Hamed.

For Uruguay, Fernando Muslera begins in goal, while captain Diego Godin and Jose Gimenez are in defence.

Rodrigo Bentancur and Matias Vecino are part of a five-man midfield which supports deadly duo Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez up top in Oscar Tabarez's team.

Egypt: El Shenawy; Fathy, Gabr, Hegazy, Abdelshafy; Elneny, Hamed; Warda, El Said, Treziguet; Mohsen

Uruguay: Muslera; Valera, Godin, Gimenez, Caceres; Nandez, Bentancur, Vecino, De Arrascaeta; Suarez, Cavani
