John Ruddy: 'Wolverhampton Wanderers can qualify for Europe in future'

Goalkeeper John Ruddy claims that Wolverhampton Wanderers have the potential to become "a massive force within European football" in the future.

Goalkeeper John Ruddy has claimed that Wolverhampton Wanderers can become one of the biggest clubs in Europe in the future.

During the summer of 2016, Wolves were taken over by Fosun International, and the new owners have provided the funds for Nuno Espirito Santo to put together a squad which is currently sitting at the top of the Championship table.

Wolves hope to be playing Premier League football next season, but Ruddy feels that the West Midlands outfit have the potential to eventually make a major impact on the continent.

The 31-year-old is quoted by the Express & Star as saying: "The way they set out what they're trying to achieve in the short term was exciting enough but going forward in the long term as a Wolves player at the moment, it's really good.

"The fans are looking from the outside and know these plans are in place now, to know what would come if the short-term plans were executed, and in 10 or 15 years' time, this could be a massive force within European football.

"I said it when I joined – the owners have bought this club with a view to long-term success."

Ruddy has been an ever-present for Wolves in the league since joining the club on a free transfer from Norwich City last summer.
