Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo: 'We are not an aggressive team'

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo insists that his side do not have an aggression problem despite losing two men to double yellow-card offences against Middlesbrough.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo has insisted that his team do not have an aggression problem despite having two players sent off during their 2-1 win at Middlesbrough in the Championship.

Ruben Neves and Matt Doherty both committed two yellow-card offences at the Riverside Stadium, but the Wolves boss claims that the dismissals could have been avoided if the referee had used more "dialogue" while overseeing the game.

"The players lost control of their emotions and I think it is the job of the referee to speak to them and calm them. My players are used to dialogue. The referee was not a dialogue person today," Nuno told BBC Sport.

"We are not an aggressive team that gets a lot of cards. What happened today requires a lot of analysis from us.

"When we had the same number of players on the pitch as Middlesbrough we showed we are a better team and they are a good side."

The result leaves Wolves six points clear at the top of the Championship, although Cardiff City directly below them have played one match fewer.
