West Bromwich Albion are reportedly ready to join the race to sign Brentford forward Neal Maupay.

After contributing 25 goals and eight assists in the Championship last season, Maupay is said to be wanted by several Premier League clubs, including Sheffield United and Aston Villa.

The newly-promoted duo are allegedly at the front of the queue for the 22-year-old, although it appears that there is also interest from the second tier.

According to the Express & Star, West Brom want to sign the Frenchman as they look to secure a replacement for Dwight Gayle and Salomon Rondon.

The Baggies refused to pay big money to turn Gayle's loan spell at The Hawthorns into a permanent move, while Rondon will likely leave the club in a £16.5m deal this summer.

However, the report adds that wages could be an issue, with both the Blades and Villa having a larger budget than West Brom.
