Stoke City fail with bid for Napoli defender Vlad Chiriches?

Championship outfit Stoke City reportedly fail with an approach for Napoli defender Vlad Chiriches.

Stoke City have reportedly failed with an offer to sign Napoli defender Vlad Chiriches.

The Potters suffered relegation from the Premier League last season but it has not prevented the club from spending big in the transfer market, with Oghenekaro Etebo and Benik Afobe both arriving at the bet365 Stadium.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Stoke boss Gary Rowett has indicated that he would like to sign Chiriches, who has previously spent two years with Tottenham Hotspur.

However, the report claims that a bid of £13.3m was rejected by the Serie A outfit, who have recently appointed Carlo Ancelotti as the club's new manager.

The Romania centre-back was only a bit-part player under previous coach Maurizio Sarri, but it appears that Ancelotti plans to use the 28-year-old on a more regular basis.
