Report: Gareth Bale happy to work with anglophone Julen Lopetegui at Real Madrid

Wales attacker Gareth Bale is now happy to stay at Real Madrid due to Julen Lopetegui's ability to speak English, according to a report.

Gareth Bale has decided to remain at Real Madrid due to Julen Lopetegui's ability to speak English, according to a report.

The Wales international hinted towards a move away from the Bernabeu after scoring twice in Madrid's 3-1 win over Liverpool in the Champions League final last month.

However, Zinedine Zidane's shock departure and the subsequent appointment of former Spain manager Lopetegui has reportedly led to Bale making a U-turn over his future.

According to The Express, Bale feels more comfortable in his position because Lopetegui can speak English, whereas Zidane could not.

The report states that Bale tried to learn Spanish when he first joined Real in 2013 but has made little progress.

Bale has four years left to run on his contract at the Bernabeu, and ended the 2017-18 campaign with 21 goals in 39 appearances for his club.
