Marcus Rashford pays tribute to Gareth Southgate

England striker Marcus Rashford credits manager Gareth Southgate for bringing "belief and the love of football back" following the team's semi-final exit.

Manchester United and England striker Marcus Rashford has thanked Gareth Southgate for his role in helping England to the semi-finals of the World Cup.

England were denied a first World Cup final since 1966 by an extra-time defeat to Croatia on Wednesday evening, but still exceeded all expectations in Russia by reaching the semi-finals for the first time since 1990.

Rashford played a bit-part role throughout the tournament with Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling preferred as the two strikers, but the 20-year-old has credited Southgate for bringing "belief and the love of football back".

England still have one match remaining at this summer's World Cup, against Belgium in Saturday's third-place playoff.
