MUST again urge Glazer family to sell Manchester United

The Manchester United Supporters Trust once again urged the Glazer family to sell Manchester United as soon as possible.

The Manchester United Supporters Trust have once again urged the Glazer family to sell Manchester United, as the speculation surrounding the ownership of the club continues.

Last November, the Glazers signalled a willingness to enter into talks over a sale of the 20-time English champions, but a potential takeover is no closer almost a year on.

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have emerged as the clear favourites to buy the club, with both offers from the pair - thought to be worth around £5bn - remaining on the table.

There have recently been claims that the Glazers have decided to take the club off the market, although it is understood that the Man United bidders have not been informed of any new developments.

The Americans had allegedly set an initial valuation of £6bn, but there have recently been suggestions that they would actually be looking for £10bn for a full sale.

There was an hour-long sit-in protest against the Glazers following Man United's 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest last month, with the club's fans doing their best to force change.

The Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) have now told the club 'to make a clear public statement about the status of the process and the intentions of the owners', as quoted by the Daily Mail.

'And if they are intending to remain as owners they must be made aware of the negative reaction that news is going to create and the continued chaos and disruption that their ownership will continue to elicit.

'Aside from that, there are a whole series of big questions they would need to answer: What is their plan to invest in United? Just what has the last nine months achieved?

'What costs have been incurred in this process? Are those costs being met by the Glazer family, or by the club itself?

'All in all, it's been a process typical of their ownership of the club. Slow, opaque and increasingly looking like having a "worst case scenario" outcome.

'Our message is clear though: the club is in clear need of investment, and it is plain that the Glazers cannot or will not provide this. With good offers on the table, it's time for the Glazers to go.'

Man United have made an underwhelming start to the new Premier League season, winning two and losing two of their opening four matches, which has left them down in 11th spot in the table. body check tags ::
