Chido Obi had three big chances during his 52 minutes of action for Manchester United against Fulham in the FA Cup on Sunday, with the teenage forward making a strong impression during the fifth-round contest at Old Trafford.
The 17-year-old replaced the struggling Rasmus Hojlund in the 68th minute of the fixture, and an incredible statistic has emerged since the end of the contest, which Fulham won on penalties following a 1-1 draw.
Indeed, according to Statman Dave, Obi had three big chances in 52 minutes, while Hojlund has had just three big chances in his 22 Premier League appearances during the 2024-25 campaign.
Obi's best chance to score on Sunday came in the latter stages of the first half of extra time, but his effort from a wide angle was kept out by Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno, who also saved two spot kicks in the shootout.
Amorim addresses Obi's starting chances after Fulham clash
Man United head coach Ruben Amorim was asked about the possibility of Obi replacing the struggling Hojlund in the side for the coming matches, starting with Thursday's Europa League clash against Real Sociedad.
"Anything can happen in the next games. We need to see the opposition, feel the moment of the player physically. I will focus on just the next game. I will choose the best players to win the next match," he told reporters during his post-match press conference.
A difficult campaign for Hojlund has seen the Denmark international manage just seven goals and one assist in 35 appearances this season, while he has not found the back of the net in the league since the start of December.
Hojlund has impressed in the Europa League this term, though, scoring five times and registering one assist in eight appearances, which could lead to him keeping his starting role against Real Sociedad.
Obi, meanwhile, has now managed three senior appearances for Man United, while last summer's arrival from Arsenal has 12 goals in 12 appearances at Under-18s and Under-21s level during the 2024-25 campaign.
