Sergio Aguero coy on Manchester City return date

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero refuses to rule out the possibility of returning in time for Saturday's Premier League match against Stoke City.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has refused to rule out the possibility of returning for his side in time for this weekend's Premier League clash with Stoke City.

The 29-year-old suffered a broken rib after being involved in a car crash during a day off in Amsterdam last month, with the initial reports suggesting that he could be out of action for up to six weeks.

However, Aguero returned to light training earlier this week and revealed that he is due to rejoin the rest of the squad today, when he will assess his fitness ahead of Saturday's match against Stoke City.

"When I got to the hospital I asked the doctor if I could play for City on the Saturday. He said, 'I don't believe so'," he told TyC Sports.

"I took a moment to think and realised it's thanks to wearing a seatbelt that I'm able to talk about this at all. (On Thursday) I'll rejoin the group and see how I feel, whether I'm comfortable or not."

Aguero has scored six goals in as many Premier League appearances this season, helping City to top the table on goal difference ahead of local rivals Manchester United.
