Gabriel Jesus: 'Manchester City must not forget previous form'

Forward Gabriel Jesus says that Manchester City must not forget their previous success this season after suffering defeats in two high-profile matches.

Forward Gabriel Jesus has called on Manchester City to remain positive ahead of the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final with Liverpool.

Over the past week, City have suffered a 3-0 defeat to the Merseyside giants in the first leg at Anfield, before neighbours Manchester United overturned a two-goal deficit to win 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening.

However, Jesus has insisted that he and his teammates should not forget all of their previous success this season and must only focus on trying to net the first goal in Tuesday's match.

The 21-year-old is quoted by the Manchester Evening News as saying: "Obviously, we are bothered for the last two games, but we can't make a big deal of this and forget all the great things we have done until now. We need to learn from this and turn the page quickly to focus on Tuesday and the rest of the championship.

"Against Liverpool, it only depends on us. We need to start thinking about winning, not about the third goal or the fourth, but about scoring the first one. What we didn't get last Wednesday. From the beginning until the end, we must think about scoring and play our football.

"If now we are in a situation where we have a chance to go through to the semifinals of the Champions League and to win the Premier League trophy is because we did a lot to deserve it. We have been playing really well, we did great games against great teams, we mustn't forget everything we did."

Jesus - who has scored 12 goals from 32 matches this season - could return to the bench if Sergio Aguero is passed fit.
