Xherdan Shaqiri remaining tight-lipped on Stoke City future

Stoke City playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri says that he is only focusing on the looming World Cup on Russia despite rumours of a potential summer move to Liverpool.

Stoke City playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri has said that he is only focusing on the World Cup in Russia despite reported interest from Liverpool.

Shaqiri was unable to prevent the Potters from being relegated from the Premier League last season, leading to reports suggesting that Jurgen Klopp could be keen to capitalise on Stoke's position in the Championship by moving to bring the Swiss international to Anfield in the summer.

Shaqiri is thought to have a release clause of around £13.5m in his current Stoke deal, leading to supposed interest from other potential suitors including Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton and Everton.

"I can't tell you anything right now. I think my agents take care of my future," Shaqiri told reporters when quizzed about his future. "I'm focusing on the national team right now."

Shaqiri has made 84 appearances for Stoke, scoring 15 goals in the process, since moving to the Premier League from Inter Milan in 2015.
