Lyon chief Jean-Michel Aulas open to new negotiations with Liverpool over Nabil Fekir

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas does not rule out fresh negotiations with Liverpool over Nabil Fekir, though he admits that discussions are not currently taking place.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has not ruled out going back to the negotiating table with Liverpool over Nabil Fekir.

The France attacker, who is currently away on World Cup duty with his national side, was poised to join the Reds in a big-money move earlier this month, only for negotiations to collapse.

Reports suggested that Lyon aborted the move after Liverpool attempted to renegotiate a fee due to a knee issue flagged up during Fekir's medical.

After confessing to pulling the plug on the deal due to discussions dragging on for too long, Aulas hinted that a return to negotiations could be revived after the World Cup.

"Nothing is ever completely over in the footballing world," Aulas told the Liverpool Echo. "Personally, I am no longer in discussions with Liverpool. At the moment, we are waiting for France and Nabil to have a fantastic World Cup.

"If Nabil was to start in the World Cup final, I am thinking about Nabil, about his future, about his family, because I especially like his dad and the entire environment.

"He has an agent in Jean-Pierre Bernes of the highest quality. You should not worry, I think that Nabil's career is going to be even greater if he stays at Lyon, but it will not be me who decides."

Fekir, who is also believed to be on the radar of Real Madrid, made 40 appearances for Lyon last season, scoring 23 goals and registering eight assists.
