Leeds to re-open talks with Phillips?

Leeds United are reportedly prepared to up their efforts to secure the long-term future of midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

Having come through the academy setup to make 147 appearances in all competitions, the 23-year-old is regarded as one of Leeds's most prized assets.

The development of the Englishman has naturally led to interest from the Premier League, with the Yorkshire giants having to turn down enquiries earlier this summer.

While Phillips has recently rejected offers of a new contract, Football Insider claims that Leeds are ready to return to the negotiating table.

The report adds that Phillips is currently holding out for an offer of £40,000 per week, aware that he can receive a minimum of that if he signs for a top-flight club.

Leeds currently sit at the top of the Championship table.
