Team News: Gylfi Sigurdsson, Wayne Rooney left out for Everton

Gylfi Sigurdsson and Wayne Rooney miss out on selection for Everton's Europa League meeting with Lyon as boss Ronald Koeman makes five changes.

Gylfi Sigurdsson and Wayne Rooney have been left out of Everton's starting lineup for this evening's Europa League tie against Lyon at Goodison Park.

Under-fire boss Ronald Koeman has made five changes in all from the 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion last time out, as the Toffees look to keep their European hopes alive.

Leighton Baines, Idrissa Gueye and Sigurdsson all drop down to the bench, while Rooney and Phil Jagielka miss out on squad selection altogether.

Koeman has instead brought in youngster Tom Davies to partner Morgan Schneiderlin in the middle, while Kevin Mirallas and Davy Klaassen are given the nod in attack.

The other two players to be integrated back into the fold are Ashley Williams and Cuco Martina, who feature in a back four along with Michael Keane and Mason Holgate.

In terms of the visitors, they travel to Merseyside with former Manchester United winger Memphis Depay back in their starting ranks following a recent spell on the subs' bench.

Les Gones also welcome back central defender Marcelo, who was suspended for the 3-2 win over Monaco last week, while Kenny Tete is given the nod over Rafael at right-back.

Elsewhere, Clement Grenier and Pape Cheikh Diop both miss out through injury, as Lyon look to improve on an underwhelming start to their Group E campaign.

Everton: Pickford; Holgate, Keane, Williams, Martina; Davies, Schneiderlin; Vlasic, Klaassen, Calvert-Lewin; Mirallas
Subs: Stekelenburg, Baines, Sandro, Gueye, Sigurdsson, Besic, Lookman

Lyon: Lopes; Marcal, Diakhaby, Marcelo, Tete; Aouar, Tousart, Depay, Fekir, Traore; Maolida
