Crystal Palace Women will attempt to claim back-to-back victories when they travel to Walton Hall Park for Saturday's Women's Super League clash against Everton Women.

Meanwhile, the Toffees will be looking for a positive response after falling to a 3-1 defeat in last Saturday's home clash with Arsenal.

Match preview

Everton are sitting in eighth place in the WSL table after winning four, drawing four and losing eight of their 16 league matches this season.

The Toffees recorded the most recent of those four victories earlier this month when they beat Aston Villa 2-0 at Villa Park thanks to goals from Maren Mjelde and Honoka Hayashi.

Unfortunately for Everton, they were unable to build upon that result in last Saturday's meeting with Arsenal despite going into the break on level terms after Toni Payne cancelled out Alessia Russo's opener.

A Mjelde own goal and Russo's second effort of the game proved enough to condemn the Toffees to a 3-1 loss, bringing an end to their four-game unbeaten home league run.

They can still take confidence from the fact they have won three of their last five home games, as they look to extend their seven-point gap to Palace in Saturday's WSL fixture.

Palace may be languishing at the bottom of the table, but they will have a renewed sense of belief after claiming their first win under manager Leif Smerud last weekend.

Smerud, who replaced Laura Kaminski at the start of the month, began his tenure with consecutive 1-0 defeats against Liverpool and Chelsea in the league and FA Cup respectively.

It ultimately proved to be third time lucky for the Norwegian as his side recorded a 3-1 home victory over Villa last Sunday, courtesy of goals from Aniek Nouwen, Ashleigh Weerden and Katie Stengel.

As a result of their first-ever WSL home win, the Eagles have moved to within one point of Villa with seven games left to play this term.

Palace will now head on their travels with hopes of claiming back-to-back league wins, although those hopes may be tempered by the fact that they have lost four of their previous five WSL away games.

Team News

Everton boss Brian Sorensen remains without long-term absentees Inma Gabbaro, Aurora Galli and Megan Finnigan, who are all working on their rehabilitation from anterior cruciate ligament injuries.

Chelsea loanee Louna Ribadeira has been struggling with a foot injury in recent weeks and is not expected to return in time for Saturday's contest.

Clare Wheeler is pushing for a starting spot after returning from injury to play around half an hour in their recent defeat against Arsenal.

As for the Eagles, they are still having to cope without the midfield duo of Hayley Nolan and Aimee Everett due to injury.

There appears to be some doubt surrounding the availability of Fliss Gibbons and Indiah-Paige Riley after the pair were absent from the matchday squad for the win over Villa.

Providing there are no fresh injury concerns, Smerud may decide to select the same lineup that started last Sunday's 3-1 home victory.

Everton Women possible starting lineup:
Brosnan; Mjelde, Fernandez, Stenevik, S. Holmgaard; Wheeler, Ladd, Hayashi, Gago; Snoeijs; T. Payne

Crystal Palace Women possible starting lineup:
Yanez; Arthur, Swaby, Larkin, Woodham; Sharpe, Nouwen, Cato; Stengel; Weerden, Larisey

We say: Everton Women 1-1 Crystal Palace Women

Everton are seven points better off than Saturday's opponents, but while they may enter the contest as the favourites, we think that the rejuvenated visitors will do enough to hold the Toffees to a draw to collect a useful point at Walton Hall Park.
