Paul Clement hits back at criticism from former Derby County forward Darren Bent

Former Derby County boss Paul Clement takes to social media to respond to Darren Bent, who has criticised Clement's period at Pride Park.

Former Derby County boss Paul Clement has claimed that Darren Bent was 'overweight and lazy' during his period at Pride Park.

Clement was appointed as Derby boss in June 2015 but lasted just 33 games with the Rams, and his time at the club coincided with Bent being dropped from the starting lineup.

Bent was critical of Clement's time with the East Midlands outfit on Friday when working for Sky Sports as a pundit, saying that it was inevitable that Clement would "crumble " and that the former Chelsea assistant did 'not like confrontation'.

However, Clement has chosen to respond to the forward, claiming that the 34-year-old was showing "bitterness" for not keeping his place in the side.

Clement is now in charge of Reading - who lost to Derby on Friday night - while Bent finds himself without a club.
