Garry Monk: 'Everything needs to change at Birmingham City'

Manager Garry Monk says that "everything needs to change" at Birmingham City if the club want to avoid future relegation battles in the Championship.

Manager Garry Monk has said that he aims to make major changes at Birmingham City during the summer.

The West Midlands outfit went into the final day of the campaign still requiring a result to remain in the Championship, and a 3-1 victory over Fulham ensured that the club remained out of the bottom three.

However, Monk has said that the club's recent league placings have not been good enough and has promised to shake things up at St Andrew's ahead of next season.

The 39-year-old is quoted by the Birmingham Mail as saying: "The key going forward is that there needs to be change. Three times in the last five years [we have battled relegation], a club of this size.

"You see many big clubs in this league - and Birmingham is a big club - but that doesn't give you the right to have anything in this league unless you put the work there. Everything needs to change, the mistakes that have been made everyone needs to learn from them.

"I will be honest with you, I will be relentless and whoever is not on board with that won't be here. The ones who are will be here. It has to be like that. We have to raise the mentality of the club. That goes for everyone at the club."

After being appointed in March, Monk claimed 16 points from 11 matches to keep Birmingham in the second tier.
