Luis Suarez: 'We were complacent'

By , European Football Editor | 4d
Barcelona forward Luis Suarez admits that his team were complacent in Saturday's La Liga clash with Rayo Vallecano.

Luis Suarez has admitted that Barcelona were "too confident" entering Saturday's La Liga clash with Rayo Vallecano.

The Catalan giants trailed 2-1 to Rayo entering the final stages of the match in Madrid, but Ousmane Dembele levelled the scores in the 87th minute before Suarez's second of the night secured a late win for the visitors.

Rayo entered the match in 19th spot in the table having won just once in the league this term, and Suarez has conceded that his side were complacent when they took to the field.

"It's true, we probably were too confident," Suarez told reporters. "But we must credit Rayo Vallecano, they need points and were excellent, they brought the game to us and were very impressive.

"At the end of the day the most important thing from our perspective was to pick up the three points, then evaluate our performance. My own contribution? My job is to score goals and help the team, thankfully I did that."

Next up for Barcelona is a trip to Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
