Jasper Cillessen: 'Lack of game-time not ideal'

Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen has admitted that he is not overly pleased with his lack of playing time at Camp Nou, but the Netherlands international 'will not complain'.

Cillessen has made just two La Liga appearances for Barcelona since a 2016 move from Ajax, with the Dutchman very much second choice to Marc-Andre ter Stegen at Camp Nou.

The 29-year-old will play in Barcelona's Copa del Rey clash with Cultural Leonesa on Wednesday night, however, and he has vowed to 'play at his maximum level' when given the chance.

"Lack of game-time? It's not an ideal scenario and like any player I want to play as much as possible, I want to complete and be involved. There is not point wasting energy on anger or not being happy about the situation, it will not do me any good," Cillessen told Diario Sport.

"I must focus on my role and play at my maximum level when I am given the opportunity either for Barca or the Netherlands."

Cillessen has made 21 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions, with 17 of those coming in the Copa del Rey.
