Unai Emery hails Bernd Leno performance

Arsenal manager Unai Emery admits that his side needed goalkeeper Bernd Leno in good form to earn a point against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has reserved special praise for goalkeeper Bernd Leno following his performance in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Leno made a string of crucial saves to keep the Gunners in the game after Ivan Cavaleiro's opener, and his interventions allowed Henrikh Mkhitaryan to steal a point for the hosts at the Emirates Stadium.

The German also denied Adama Traore from close range after the late equaliser, and Emery was pleased with the goalkeeper's important contribution.

"We knew that today we needed the goalkeeper with his performance, because when we are taking risks in our attacking moments, and to give them a transition and options in the transitional moments we would need the goalkeeper," Emery told reporters.

"Today I thought his performance was good for us."

Leno has now made six Premier League appearances for Arsenal, having seemingly usurped Petr Cech as the number one.
