Accrington Stanley's fight to stay out of the League Two relegation zone will continue on Tuesday night, when they welcome Newport County to Crown Ground.
Stanley are 21st in the League Two table, seven points ahead of 23rd-placed Morecambe, while Newport County occupy 17th, seven points ahead of their opponents in the fourth tier of English football here.
Match preview
Accrington have a record of nine wins, nine draws and 17 defeats from their 35 league matches this season, with a total of 36 points leaving them in 21st spot, seven points clear of 23rd-placed Morecambe.
It has been a testing campaign for John Doolan's side, with the team conceding 54 times, which is the third-worst defensive record in the division, and they are far from safe when it comes to the battle to remain in the division.
Stanley have actually won two of their last four in League Two, including a 2-0 success over MK Dons in their last game at home. However, Doolan's team will enter this match off the back of a 2-0 defeat to Barrow.
Accrington have the third-worst home record in League Two this season, only picking up 19 points from 16 matches, but Newport have the third-worst away record, boasting just 13 points from 18 games.
Newport County have only locked horns with Accrington on 13 occasions throughout history, and they lead the head-to-head record six wins to three, with one of those successes coming in the reverse match earlier this season.
That said, Accrington have been victorious in two of the last three games between the two sides, including a 3-0 success when the pair locked horns for the corresponding game during the 2023-24 season.
Newport County will enter this match off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Chesterfield, which made it three losses from their last four matches in England's fourth tier, with the team currently 17th in the table.
The Exiles have a record of 12 wins, seven draws and 16 defeats from their 35 matches to collect 43 points, which has left them 14 points clear of the relegation zone, so the team have no demotion fears at this stage.
Nelson Jardim's side are 13 points off the playoff spots, meanwhile, so there is not an awful lot for them to play for in the final stages of the season.
Team News
Tyler Walton has been a standout player for Accrington this season, finding the back of the net on eight occasions, and there will be a spot in the final third of the field for the 26-year-old on Tuesday night.
There are not expected to be any real surprises when it comes to the home side's XI, with Alex Henderson also set to start, as he looks to add to the one goal that he has scored during the current season.
Charlie Caton is a new signing, arriving from Chester in January, and the 22-year-old should also be in the side.
As for Newport County, the club have not reported any fresh injury concerns from their clash with Chesterfield.
Bobby Kamwa has been the main source of goals for the team this season, finding the back of the net on eight occasions, and there will be a spot in the final third of the field for the 24-year-old here.
Courtney Baker-Richardson and David Ajiboye are also set to be among the starters for the visitors, but Kai Whitmore is again expected to be among the substitutes for the first whistle.
Accrington Stanley possible starting lineup:
Crellin; Matthews, Dawson, Ward; Love, Coyle, O'Brien-Whitmarsh, Quirk; Walton, Henderson, Caton
Newport County possible starting lineup:
Townsend; Warner, Clarke, Baker; Thomas, McLoughlin, Antwi, Glennon; Ajiboye, Baker-Richardson, Kamwa
We say: Accrington Stanley 0-0 Newport County
One of the worst home teams in League Two will host one of the worst away sides, so this is a really difficult game to predict; Accrington have home advantage, but we are expecting Newport County to be good enough for a point on Tuesday night.
