West Bromwich Albion remain keen on Rangers defender James Tavernier?

By , Reporter | 4d
West Bromwich Albion are reportedly ready to make another approach for Rangers defender James Tavernier during the January transfer window.

West Bromwich Albion have reportedly decided to maintain their interest in Rangers defender James Tavernier.

The 26-year-old has established himself as one of the top players in the Scottish Premiership since leaving Wigan Athletic in 2015, with 34 goals coming from 162 appearances in all competitions.

Tavernier's form has resulted in interest from south of the border, and West Brom were denied in their efforts to sign the right-back before the start of the season.

However, according to the Daily Record, the Baggies are ready to return with a fresh offer at the midway point of the campaign as they look to boost their chances of promotion to the Premier League.

Darren Moore's side currently sit in fifth place in the Championship table, four points adrift of leaders Sheffield United.

Tavernier's contract at Ibrox does not expire until 2022, and Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has previously suggested that he is not prepared to entertain a sale unless any club wants to pay above the player's valuation.
