Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos is reportedly on the verge of signing a new one-year deal at the Bernabeu.

The centre-back's existing contract with Los Blancos is due to expire at the end of June, meaning that, as it stands, he will be leaving the club on a free transfer in the coming weeks.

Ramos was thought to have been holding out for a long-term contract rather than the one-year extension placed on the table by the La Liga giants.

However, according to Deportes Cuatro, the 35-year-old has made a U-turn and is now ready to accept a deal at the Bernabeu until June 2022.

New Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti recently said that he was keen to keep "very important player" Ramos at the club heading into next season.

The former Sevilla youngster, who was controversially left out of the Spain squad for Euro 2020, scored four times and registered one assist in 21 appearances at club level last term.
